Gaining Full Registration from Registration Subject to Confirmation (STC)
In order to gain full registration, teachers registered subject to confirmation (STC) must:

be employed in a teaching position that provides sufficient opportunities for ongoing meaningful assessment against the Registered Teacher Criteria

teach in a continuous position in minimum blocks of no less than six weeks

be employed within the general education system in New Zealand or a setting approved by the Teachers Council for gaining full registration
- be up to date in current curricula and procedures in the general education system
- have satisfactory recent teaching experience
- undertake an induction and mentoring programme while teaching for at least three months
- hold a current practising certificate
