What is Registration Subject to Confirmation?This category is for experienced teachers who have not met the requirements for full registration. This generally means that they have not taught for 8 full terms in the last 5 years. Teachers registered subject to confirmation have three years to move to full registration before they need to reapply. It is important to note that registration subject to confirmation expires every three years. You must hold a valid practising certificate and a registration status in order to apply to move to full. You cannot move to full if you apply after the expiry date of your STC practising certificate. Therfore you must apply for a new practising certificate and then apply to move to full registration. What are the requirements to achieve full registration?To move from registration subject to confirmation to full registration, you must meet the following requirements:

What is a Practising Certificate?A practising certificate is your license to show that your registration is still valid. Continuing employment as a teacher is only legal if you have a current practising certificate. You pay the $120.00 when you send your application form to the NZ Teachers Council.
What happens if I do not take up a teaching position for some years?
If it has been over 3 years since you received your Subject To Confirmation registration it will have expired. You will need to reapply for Subject To Confirmation registration and get a new practising certificate card before you can be employed as a teacher. |
