Consultation

Consultation on Requirements for Registration as a Teacher

The Council is seeking your feedback on possible changes to requirements for teacher registraton.  This follows the Council's analysis of issues and regional meetings held with professional leaders earlier this year.  Your feedback from this consultation will contribute to further development of a registration policy.

Your feedback is sought on the following:

  • Teaching and learning environment for Provisionally Registered Teachers (PRTs)
  • Duration of provisional registration
  • Definition of a ‘teaching position'
  • Definition of ‘recent teaching experience'
  • Introduction of a proposed new registration framework.

The final date for providing feedback is Friday 27 November 2009.  You can:

  • Download the consultation document below, complete it electronically and email it to: alastair.mclean@teacherscouncil.govt.nz or
  • Print the document, complete your response and post it to the New Zealand Teachers Council, PO Box 5326 Wellington, 6145, Attention: Alastair McLean.

Feedback on ForTeachers Sought

Since 2005 Council has been using the ForTeachers newsletter to communicate directly with teachers and others in the education sector.  We want to know your thoughts on ForTeachers.  For example how can we improve the newsletter?  Do you prefer the newsletter as a hard copy posted out to you or would you like it emailed directly to your inbox?
