CAC Member ProfilesThe following CAC members were appointed in September 2004:
Nola Hambleton, ConvenerI am currently principal of Manurewa South School in Auckland. My teaching background has also included positions throughout New Zealand, specifically in Otago, Southland, and Waikato in both rural and urban schools. I am a past president of the New Zealand Principals Federation, and am President of the International Federation of Principals. The latter organisation has given me the opportunity to work with educators from all sectors of the global education spectrum and to interact with many schools and teachers. I have been a member of the NZ Teachers Council since its inception, and I am currently the elected principals representative.
Irene SymesI am currently deputy principal at Otahuhu College in Auckland. My teaching experience has spanned 20 years and has included positions in both rural and urban New Zealand, with four years in the UK from 1999-2003. Throughout my career I have been actively involved in PPTA in a variety of roles at both branch and regional level. Up until 1 September 2004 I was the PPTA representative on the Auckland College of Education Council. I am currently the PPTA nominated representative on the NZ Teachers Council.
Chris FranceI am currently a governance consultant, specialising in the education sector, based in Auckland. I have been immersed in education all my life from a three-year period as a teacher through to trusteeship. I started as a school trustee in 1990 and have served on a number of school boards. Since 1997 I have been a member of the School Trustees National Council (Executive), and from 2000 to 2004 was the elected President of the New Zealand School Trustees Association. I have not only practised, but also intensively studied governance theory, and believe deeply in parental involvement in education through the model we operate in New Zealand.
Graeme OldershawI am currently the Director of ACENZ (Association of Colleges of Education in New Zealand), and was formerly the Principal of Wellington College of Education. I have been involved in teacher education for twenty five years, and was originally a primary teacher.
Jain GaudinFor 14 years I was principal of New Plymouth Girls' High School, a large single sex school with a boarding hostel. In 2003 I was fortunate to be offered the position of Secondary Principal Consultant at the University of Waikato, and have greatly enjoyed working in the areas of Leadership and Management, Planning and Reporting, Literacy, raising achievement for Māori students and many more areas. My teaching background is mainly in English and languages. In 2004 I also worked on the innovative Russell Bishop research project, Te Kotahitanga, with Paeroa College. Jill PageA Resource Teacher: Learning and Behaviour in the Birkenhead cluster. Past Board of Trustees member and Chairperson at Wairau Intermediate School. Former RTLB Association Executive Member for Auckland North. A trained primary school teacher with 22 years experience across all age groups.
Margaret WilsonMargaret Wilson is the manager of two early childhood centres based at the Dunedin Hospital. She has worked in a variety of early childhood services over many years. Margaret previously worked at the Dunedin College of Education as part of the Professional Development Team for early childhood services. She has also worked for NZSTA, providing governance and management training for school boards of trustees. She holds both an early childhood and primary teaching qualification. |
